The price of the once high pesticide will be reduc

Release time:2022-11-21    Hits:645

Chlorphenamide is a new pesticide (later bought out by Fumeishi) launched by DuPont in the United States. Since its listing in 2008, it has been the main product of the company. As we all know, although imported pesticides have good effects (pests have not yet developed resistance to new compounds), the most important feature is that they are expensive.

As an example of the company's packaging of 20% chlorfenoxamide in 5ml, for a long time, the retail price at the grassroots level has been around 9 yuan/bag, and the cost of chlorfenoxamide alone accounts for 18 yuan per mu of crop based on the amount of 10ml, which is far higher than the cost of other domestic insecticides. It is not too much to describe it as one of the most expensive insecticides.

As the saying goes, "one price, one price, one product", Chlorphenamide has indeed shown the actual effect of being ahead of domestic pesticides. In addition to the fact that field pests have not yet developed resistance to new compounds (most domestic pesticides are products with expired patents of foreign companies, and have been used in the market for a long time), there is also an extremely important reason, which is the promotion method of foreign companies.

Chlorform benzamide is an o-aminobenzodiamide compound. Its mechanism of action is to activate the fish nicotine receptor of the pest, resulting in the unlimited release of calcium ions, so that the calcium reservoir in the pest body is depleted, the pest muscle can not contract normally, and eventually lead to death after paralysis.

Therefore, chloramphenicol is mainly used to kill insects in the form of stomach poison, that is, when pests eat the leaves with medicine, they will cause muscle paralysis, lose their ability to move, and quickly stop feeding. However, the death of the insects is slow (usually takes about 3 days), especially for the control of older insects, they need to wait patiently, which is very inconsistent with the habits of Chinese farmers.

Therefore, in view of the disadvantage of slow insecticidal efficacy of chlorfenoxamide, foreign companies have given full play to their advantages in promotion. They have instilled local pest egg laying incubation period for local sellers, and declared that only in this way can the effect of thorough and long-term insecticidal efficacy be achieved, so many farmers believe that chlorfenoxamide is a kind of egg killing and insecticide that is ahead of domestic pesticides, or even superior.

In fact, chloramphenicol is only effective and thorough against larvae. If domestic pesticides are applied in this way, can they also achieve high efficiency and long-term insecticidal efficacy?

Is it the intention of foreign companies to cut prices when patents expire?

From August 13, 2002 to August 13, 2022, the patent of chloramphenicol was completed. Since the listing of chloramphenicol in China in 2008, it has achieved unprecedented success.

However, since 2021, the retail price of chlorfenvalerate will no longer be so firm, and the retail price will drop in all regions.

Some professionals believe that the reason why chlorfenoxamide fell in price before the patent period is that foreign companies began to authorize some domestic enterprises to produce and sell before the expiration of the patent, so as to achieve the goal of cutting the last wave of "leeks"; Second, after the appearance of similar products, there will inevitably be competition, and competition is the direct means to eliminate profits; Third, pests have formed a certain degree of drug resistance, so that chloramphenicol benzamide in China's high position no longer exists.

Up to now, there have been 75 registered certificates of chloramphenicol in China, including 23 certificates for single dose, 6 certificates for technical drugs, and 46 certificates for mixtures.

In addition to the new certificates that have been approved successively and the certificates that have been circulated among manufacturers, it can be expected that the chloramphenicol benzoamide market in 2023 will usher in an unprecedented outbreak in China.

Although it has entered the off-season of chloramphenicol, the information on the falling product price is enough to make people smell the smoke in the coming year ahead of time.

It is understood that the foreign company has sold a low price of 4.4 yuan/bag for 5ml packaging of chloramphenicol on the network platform. Some domestic manufacturers said that the forecast price in 2023 is far lower than this price (retail price).

It is undoubtedly a good thing for farmers to get high-end products back to normal. However, some insiders believe that, on the premise that pests have resistance to chlorfenoxamide, once the profit margin is lost, whether this product will have the value of continued promotion in the future is still unknown.

Is chloramphenicol still valuable?

Using the experience of many foreign products whose patents have expired for reference, the vitality of this product can be greatly extended by updating the pesticide dosage form and mixing it with other pesticides of different mechanisms, even under the premise of pest resistance and reduced product profits.

Of course, it should be ruled out that fipronil is highly toxic to fish, shrimp and bees just after the patent expires, so that Chinese people do not enjoy too much dividends due to the expiration of the patent.

After the expiry of the patent, Chlorphenamide is now more abundant in registered dosage forms obtained by the Ministry of Agriculture of China. In addition to suspension, there are also granules, water dispersible granules, seed treatment suspension and ultra-low volume liquid.

In particular, mixing agents, such as chlorfenoxam+thiamethoxam, chlorfenoxam+carbaryl, chlorfenoxam+avermectin, chlorfenoxam+indamcarb, chlorfenoxam+chlorfenuron, chlorfenoxam+beta cypermethrin, chlorfenoxam+thiamethoxam, chlorfenoxam+pymetrozine, chlorfenoxam+acetamidine, etc.

In addition to the regular lepidopteran pests and some coleoptera pests, the registered objects also include small field tigers, sugarcane borers, grubs, thrips, aphids, heart eating insects, bean pod borers, yellow leaf curl beetles, rice planthoppers, etc.

Through the compatibility of different compounds, it not only makes up for the weakness of insecticide of chloramphenicol, but also increases the scope of insecticide.

In particular, the use of permeating and conducting capacity and long lasting effect of chloramphenicol to make granules for underground pests may become the next blue ocean in the field of underground pest control in the future.
